Picking Up the Pieces After a Flood

Dealing with serious flood damage at home is not the end of the world. And most importantly, it does not have to cost you an arm and a leg to get your home back into living condition again. In fact, you may find (like I did) that recovering from a flood gives you an opportunity to improve the look and feel of your home overall, and even to implement design options that increase the value of your property. I spent about a year fixing up my place after a pipe exploded while I was on vacation, and literally ruined everything inside from the flooring and walls, to my photos and important paperwork. So, I figured I could help others "pick up the pieces" and create a bigger ad better lifestyle at home by turning a flood situation into an opportunity, instead of dealing with it like a crisis.

Four Tips To Help You Maximize Storage Space For Garden Equipment And Outdoor Projects

by Scott Gordon

If you are a person that likes to work in the garden or do outdoor projects, you probably have a lot of tools and materials that you need to store. You may even need to have a little extra space to work on some of your projects. With a good garden shed, the right storage and a workbench, you can maximize your storage space.

For some of the larger equipment, you may even want to consider a storage service to create more space. Here are four tips to help you get the most out of your storage space:

1. Storing Things In Order Of Seasons

Working outdoors means that there are many things that you may use seasonally. If you want to save space, you may want to store things in order of seasons. When it is cold out and you do not need to cut the grass, you may want to consider putting things like lawnmowers in storage.

You can also do this with things like heaters and leaf blowers during the spring and summer months. This can help you to save space and keep these things out of your way when you do not need them.

2. Keeping Things You Use Most In A Conspicuous

There may be things that you use more often than others, such as power tools like drills or hand tools like shovels. You will want to keep these things in a conspicuous place where they are easy to get to when you need them.  If you store these things in a storage shed, try to keep a clear path to the things you use most, such as dedicating one side to these tools.

3. Storing Materials And Odd Equipment In Storage Units

If you have materials like wood, or an odd tool like a concrete mixer, these may not be things you use often. If you have limited space to store things, you may want to consider storing these things in a storage unit. This can give you more valuable space for the things you do use and allow you to safely store these things for when you need them.

4. Creating A Workbench With Storage For Tools And A Work Area

If you do many outdoor projects, a workbench can be a great piece of equipment to do all sorts of work. You may want to build your own and add storage for hand tools and other things you use. You can also buy workbenches that have storage space and cabinets to allow you to store things you need.  This is also something that you will want to have a clear space for. You may also want to consider having a couple of electrical outlets near your workbench to be able to use power tools or add a light to this workspace.

Working outdoors can be a lot of fun when you can easily find everything you need. Storage is an important part of being able to do your projects. If you want to get the most out of your storage space, consider some of these tips that will help you get the most out of the space you have for your outdoor equipment.
