Picking Up the Pieces After a Flood

Dealing with serious flood damage at home is not the end of the world. And most importantly, it does not have to cost you an arm and a leg to get your home back into living condition again. In fact, you may find (like I did) that recovering from a flood gives you an opportunity to improve the look and feel of your home overall, and even to implement design options that increase the value of your property. I spent about a year fixing up my place after a pipe exploded while I was on vacation, and literally ruined everything inside from the flooring and walls, to my photos and important paperwork. So, I figured I could help others "pick up the pieces" and create a bigger ad better lifestyle at home by turning a flood situation into an opportunity, instead of dealing with it like a crisis.

Everything You Need To Know About Lawn Sprinkler Systems

by Scott Gordon

Installing and maintaining a lawn sprinkler system can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be. By knowing the basics of how they work and what needs to be done to keep them functioning properly, you can rest assured that your lawn will stay green all season long. Here's what you need to know.

What is a lawn sprinkler system?

A lawn sprinkler system is an irrigation system that helps to water your lawn or garden. They allow homeowners to have a beautiful and healthy lawn without having to water it manually. There are many different types of lawn sprinkler systems available on the market, so it is important to choose one that best suits your needs.

What are the two main types of lawn sprinkler systems?

In-ground

This type of system is installed beneath the ground and consists of a series of pipes and valves that are connected to a water source. The heads are flush with the ground and pop up when the lawn sprinkler system is activated.

Above ground

This type of system is not installed beneath the ground, and instead, consists of a series of hoses that are connected to a water source. The sprinkler heads are located above ground and can be adjusted to water different areas of your lawn.

Talk to your lawn care professional to determine which type of system would work best for your lawn and your unique needs.

How does a lawn sprinkler system work?

A lawn sprinkler system works by using a water source, such as a hose bib or spigot, to provide water to a series of hoses and sprinkler heads. The water is then distributed evenly across your lawn, providing the necessary hydration to keep your grass healthy and green.

You can find lawn sprinkler systems that are controlled manually or automatically. Automatic systems are often connected to a timer, so you can set it to turn on and off at specific times. This can be helpful if you want to water your lawn early in the morning or late at night when the temperature is cooler and the sun is not as intense.

How much does a lawn sprinkler system cost?

The cost of your lawn sprinkler system is determined by many factors, from the type and size of the system you choose to the complexity of the installation. In-ground systems are typically more expensive than above-ground systems, and automatic systems are often more expensive than manual systems.

It is important to consult with a lawn care professional to get an accurate estimate of the cost of a lawn sprinkler system for your home.

What are the benefits of a lawn sprinkler system?

There are many benefits of a lawn sprinkler system, including the following:

  • Time. You won't need to spend time manually watering your lawn, which can free up your time for other activities.
  • Water conservation. A lawn sprinkler system can help you to conserve water by delivering the precise amount of water that your lawn needs.
  • Ease of use. Automatic systems can be set on a timer, so you don't need to worry about turning them on and off.
  • Beautiful lawn. A healthy, hydrated lawn can add curb appeal to your home and increase its value.

If you are considering a lawn sprinkler system for your home, be sure to consult with a lawn care professional to find the best option.
